Basic schooling - Right to free education

Norwegian pupils have the right to free basic education. If the school demands that the child or the parents pay fees in connection with education, a complaint may be made to the school. This applies, for example, to expenses for school materials, transport during school hours, outdoor pursuits, excursions and other trips. If the school does not change its decision or practice, you may appeal to the county governor, who exercises authority over primary and lower secondary schools.
