Beskrivelse

If you have health problems or are subject to a health risk on account of the local environment, you may report this to the municipality. The municipality can investigate the cause and may give instructions for investigating the consequences, correctives, fines or closure etc.

Problems may, for example, be related to:

The indoor climate in public buildings
Noise
Air pollution or odour
Vermin or pests
Risk of accident
Smoking

The authorities and the public know much today about the importance of the environment for health and what may result in sickness or nuisance. The municipality has a responsibility to implement preventive measures and to supervise various environmental factors and activities, including institutions, factories, restaurants and animal husbandry.

Kriterier

It is not necessary that a health hazard or problems have arisen prior to contacting the municipality. It may be appropriate to commence measures before such situations arise.

Saksbehandlingstid

The municipality shall consider your application as soon as possible. If the matter cannot be determined within one month, you will be informed of this in writing with the reasons for the delay. At the same time you will be informed when you may expect to hear of the municipality’s decision.

Søknadsbehandling

The municipality shall obtain the necessary information in order to determine the matter. A decision will consequently be made. Normally, a reason is given for the decision at the same time. You will always be given a reason if there are grounds to believe that you will not be satisfied with the decision. If the reasons are not stated, you may ask the municipality. This should be done within the time limit for making an appeal.

Klagemulighet

If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may appeal to the municipality within three weeks of having been informed. If the municipality decides not to do anything about the matter, this may be considered as a decision which may be appealed. If you have not been informed that the municipality will not take action, the time limit for appeal does not apply. You must nevertheless appeal within a reasonable time after the municipality has concluded the matter, Explain why you are dissatisfied and why you feel the decision should be changed. If you need assistance, you may ask the municipality. If the municipality upholds its original decision, the matter wil be sent to the county governor, who will determine whether the appeal may be allowed.
