If your daily needs for care and attention are not covered when you are living at home, you may apply for a place in a nursing home.

You have a need for a long-term place in a nursing home.
Pris for tjenesten
The municipality can demand payment from the resident. The amount is determined by state regulations. (See under Acts and regulations).
This is a statutory service. See sections 1-3 and 2-1 of the Municipal Health Services Act.
Veiledning
You may contact the municipality in order to receive help on applying for a long-term stay in a nursing home, or you can ask others to help you if you have a need for this. If someone applies on your behalf, they must have a power of attorney signed by you.

Saksbehandlingstid
The municipality shall consider your application as soon as possible. If the matter cannot be determined within one month, you will be informed of this in writing with the reasons for the delay. At the same time you will be informed when you may expect to hear of the municipality’s decision.
Søknadsbehandling
Before the matter is decided, we will register your desires and needs in detail. Normally we will make a visit in the home. If you are given a place in a nursing home, your needs for assistance will be specified in the decision. Normally a reason is given for the decision at the same time. You will always be given a reason if there are grounds to believe that you will not be satisfied with the decision. If the reasons are not stated, you may ask the municipality. This should be done within the time limit for making an appeal.
Klagemulighet
If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may appeal to the municipality within three weeks of having been informed. Explain why you are dissatisfied and why you feel the decision should be changed. If you need assistance, you may ask the municipality. If the municipality upholds its original decision, the matter will be sent to the county governor, who will decide whether the appeal may be allowed.
You may also appeal about the manner in which the services are carried out. This should be sent to the municipality or those carrying out the service.
