School transport

GENERELT

Beskrivelse

If you reside more than a certain distance from the school or have a particularly dangerous or difficult journey to school, you have the right to school transport. This does not apply to/from after-school programme activities (SFO)

Målgruppe

Pupils in primary schools, lower secondary and upper secondary schools, and private schools
Pupils with a physical handicap
Pupils who are temporarily injured or sick

Kriterier

The distance between school and home must be more than:

2 km for primary school pupils, grade 1
4 km for primary and junior school, grades 2 to 10
6 km for upper secondary school.

The distance is measured door-to-door using the shortest route including foot- and cycle paths. If you are a pupil in primary school and have a particularly dangerous or difficult way to school, you have the right to school transport irrespective of distances. This applies if you are handicapped or temporarily injured or sick.

If you attend a private school, you have the right to school transport but only within the municipal/country boundary where you reside.

OM SØKNADSPROSESSEN

Saksbehandlingstid

The county/municipality shall consider your application as soon as possible. If the matter cannot be determined within one month, you will be informed of this in writing with the reasons for the delay. At the same time you will be informed when the decision is expected to be made.

Søknadsbehandling

The county/municipality shall obtain the necessary information in order to determine the matter. A decision will then be made. Normally a reason is given for the decision at the same time. You will always be given a reason if there are grounds to believe that you will not be satisfied with the decision. If the reasons are not stated, you may ask the county/municipality. This should be done within the time limit for making an appeal.

Klagemulighet

If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may appeal to the within three weeks of having been informed, Explain why you are dissatisfied and why you feel the decision should be changed. If you need assistance, you may ask the county/municipality. If the county/municipality upholds its original decision, the matter will be sent to the county governor (for primary/lower secondary school pupils) and the county appeals board (pupils in upper secondary school), which will decide whether the appeal may be allowed.
