Sheltered housing

This is not a statutory service. Residence in sheltered housing is regulated by lease agreements (see the Tenancy Act). Entitlement to sheltered housing is determined by an individual decision with the rights and obligations specified in the Public Administration Act.

You may contact the municipality to obtain assistance in applying for sheltered housing, or you can ask others ton help you if required. If another person applies on your behalf, they must have a power of attorney signed by you.
 

 The municipality will consider the application at the earliest opportunity. If the matter cannot be determined within one month. you will receive written information with the reason for this. At the same time you will be informed when a decision is expected to be made.

The municipality will obtain the information necessary to determine the application. A decision is then passed. Normally you will receive a reason at the same time. You will always be given a reason if there are grounds to believe that you may not be satisfied with the decision. If a reason is not given, you may then contact the municipality within the time limit for any appeal.

If you are not satisfied with the decision, you may appeal to the municipality within three weeks of having received the decision. Explain why you are not satisfied and why you feel that the decision should be changed. If you need advice, you may contact the municipality. If the municipality upholds its decision, the matter will be sent to the county governor, who will decide whether the appeal shall be allowed.
